Special Collections: Leveled Readers, Lexile Collection, Book Publishing, Comic Books

CCC Library has several special collections. All of our special collections circulate.
Leveled Reader Collection (also called Easy Reader Collection, New Reader Collection). These titles are high interest / low lexile for adult English Language Learners. These books are organized according to reading level, starting at Level 1 / yellow (easiest) and ending at Level 6 / black (hardest). Intended for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) students.
Lexile Collection / Young Adult Collection. The Lexile Collection (public-facing language is “Young Adult collection”) is available as a stepping stone for ESOL students who have “graduated” from Leveled Readers. Our Young Adult books are in the Lexile range from 500 – 1100 and include fiction and non-fiction. Non-fiction titles are housed in their own area; fiction titles are interspersed within the General Collection and differentiated with fluorescent spine labels.
Book Publishing Collection. The “Book Publishing'' Collection is a set of literary magazines and journals published by other colleges and small presses. It is located with the other print periodicals.
Graphic Novels / Comic Books Collection. Located in the upper area of the library near the Circulation Desk.
